SOCIAL WORK

Hi, I’m Courtney Burkhart, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Kids Unlimited team! I’m originally from Indiana, but moved to Florida where I earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Rollins College in 2019. After that, I returned to the Midwest to pursue my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Chicago, graduating in 2021.

 

My professional journey began at Youth Outreach Services, where I worked in the juvenile justice sector. Most recently, I spent the last two and a half years at Merlin Day Academy, a therapeutic school that specializes in supporting neurodiverse learners. These experiences have deepened my passion for working with children and families and strengthened my belief in the importance of individualized, compassionate care.

 

I’m excited to bring my background in social work to Kids Unlimited and support children in understanding the “why” behind their emotions, developing strong social skills, setting healthy boundaries, and learning effective coping strategies as well as collaborating with caregivers. Social work plays a vital role in helping children grow, thrive, and navigate life’s challenges—and I’m honored to be a part of that journey.
